Introducing
Her Royal Catness Princess Fluffybutt. She says "You may now
scratch my beautiful belly." Princess Fluffybutt is a six-year-old beauty, who
is 92.5% Maine Coon and 7.5% Something else - more or less.
Originally called "Heather" by her rescuers (who knew no better), Her Highness
was discovered as a wee kitten, along with her sister, under an abandoned
trailer near Annapolis, Maryland. Apparently feral, she was taken to a nearby
shelter where she was vet-checked, fed, groomed (me-yow!) and well cared for.
We were delighted to meet her during a visit to her temporary residence, but
the feeling was decidedly not mutual. Advised to return in two weeks, after
some socialization time, we did just that. She seemed happy to see us and the
deal was done. We'd have adopted her sister, too, but sis preferred to bloody
my hand pretty well and the shelter folks decided she wasn't ready...
Rejecting "Heather" immediately, we knew she would tell us her name soon. Her
regal bearing and composure suggested "Princess", but her full, fluffy tail
demanded recognition as well. Thus, "Princess Fluffybutt" was crowned. She is
a very spoiled daddy's girl, who is playful, curious, and very affectionate.
She is greatly loved.
As I am preparing their breakfast just before 5am (good grief...) Princess
Fluffybutt and Lady Mischief have a romp together - usually right under my
feet. Working up an appetite? PF nibbles a bit and wanders off while LM and
Rascal (a.k.a. Mama's Boy) chow down. I don't think she like to eat with the
commoners...
She loves feather toys, belly scratches, and boxes. She has a box in my office
and another in the living room. Boxes also attract Lady Mischief, which leads
to play time until PF has had enough and swats her. LM is very hard to
discourage, however, and PF usually retreats to one of her hidey-holes.
Princess Fluffybutt was about five months old and still a little skittish when we
adopted her. She soon learned Daddy would protect her from Spike (now gone)
when necessary. She became Daddy's Girl and spends much of the evening with
me. I get lots of head-butts and kitty kisses from this affectionate lady.
Sometimes during a belly scratching, she grabs my wrist in an enthusiastic hug
and licks my hand until I have to withdraw to save my skin!
Whenever someone visits, even delivery people, Princess Fluffybutt greets them
and looks them over. One cannot be too careful, however, so there's seldom
touching allowed on a first visit. Touching must be earned.
She's quite a delightful character!
