Kuira
was found wandering the road as a kitten by an older couple. They were
planning on going on a cruise the next week, so they put an ad for her on our
local radio station. My aunt adopted Kuira from the couple, but she already
owned fifteen cats. After only having Kuira for two hours, my aunt gave her to my
family after she saw how we connected with her. At first, my mom was less
than happy to see the new cat, but my mom soon fell in love with Kuira, and
she is now a permanent part of the family. Kuira's name was originally Daisy,
but after looking through a name book, we chose the name Kuira, which means
"sun rays". Over the years, Kuira has gotten many nicknames such as Tigre,
Little Gray, Petite, Sap, and Kuira Boots Ja Rule. Kuira was such a crazy
kitten. She was always pulling stunts such as climbing to the top of our
screen door and trying to jump onto our dog's back from the coffee table.
Since Kuira was not with her mother long, so she still does not have all the
basics down of a regular cat. She doesn't bathe and she sniffs at things
loudly like our dog.
When I come home every day, Kuira pops out from wherever she is hiding and
chatters at me. I chatter back and then we "talk" for a while. I feel so
privileged because I am the only one in the family that she allows to touch
her fuzzy stomach and she actually purrs when I do. Kuira loves to play ball.
I flick the pompom balls at her, and she gets them every time. She is a
champion at that game! When I watch movies, she jumps on my lap and actually
watches it with me. She gets very interested in TV. Kuira is my buddy as
well as my roommate. Kuira came with me when I went down to college. She
made the transition much easier for me, because I was bringing part of the
family with me. Kuira likes to "organize" my school papers, and she comes
home for holidays with me. There will never be another cat like my Kuira!
