Hi.
My name is Lady Compost. Don't let my name fool you; I don't
stink. I got my name because I love to spend hours and hours lounging
on my human father's compost pile! And please don't call me Lady or
Compost, or even Lady C...I prefer to be known simply as Lady Compost.
I was out trying to fend for myself one morning - tired and hungry and
wondering where life was going to take me, when my luck changed forever.
I came across a couple getting their morning exercise. The Lady said to
me as they passed, "my, you look skinny, if you come to my house I will
feed you". Well, that was all the encouragement I needed. It took me a
good 24 hours to find where, exactly, the couple lived, but I was
successful.
My first meal was Cheerios and milk and, boy, was it yummy. I was so
hungry that I ate every bite. I was really very skinny, and
scary-looking, but it wasn't my fault. I had been discarded and did not
know how to survive on my own very well so I was just wasting away.
When I came around, my human Father was sick so I took it upon myself to
be his nurse, of sorts. I stuck close, making sure he was comforted
when he was down and out. We bonded, and he has been my guy ever since.
Well, that was thirteen years ago and I am still a happy kitty. My humans
treat me like a Queen. When they eat at restaurants, they always bring
me a few bits of leftover turkey or chicken as these are my favorites.
I get a little dab of milk each morning and my food and water bowls are
never empty. Life is good.
I lived in California for many, many years, but one day my folks decided
to move to Wyoming. I was scared and confused at first, but now I like
it. There are mice and rabbits for me to chase and catch - that's
something we didn't have in California. Winters are snowy, which I
don't care for because I can't go out as much, but that's OK, I just
stay in during the winter months and save my energy for spring.
All in all, I think I am the luckiest girl in the world.
