Chester, the Cat of the Day
Name: Chester
Age: Deceased, Seventeen years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Sealpoint Ragdoll
Home: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Chester was the most fantastic "child" ever. When I rescued him at the Las Vegas Humane Society he was a timid shy little man who hid behind the toilet for the first month. As he came out of his shell he was an absolute joy. He was never the lovey, "I want to sit on your lap and lavish you with love" kind of cat, but he followed me absolutely everywhere; he was my shadow. In the mornings he would sit on the toilet seat waiting for me to get out of the shower so we could have our morning chat and love fest. He chattered constantly, like a true Siamese. He was very intelligent and learned to sit on command, beg, come when he was called - he was a better dog than my dog!!

I went away to Europe one summer and left him and his sister with Granny while I was away. She wasn't a huge cat fan but to my surprise when I returned home my Mom said, "Come and see what I've taught him to do." She had taught him to give kisses. If you asked him for a kiss, he would tilt his head down and lean towards you so you could kiss his head. As time went on, "kiss kiss" resulted in him licking your face. I told my mom that I thought she didn't like him, and her response was, "He's quite grown on me." That was my boy!

He was so endearing and so loyal. We moved a lot and as long as I was there he didn't care where we were. He would greet me at the door every single time I came home. He gave me nearly seventeen years of joy, unconditional love and loyalty and is missed every day but he will always be part of my family and a fabulous part of my journey through life!
