MooShoo
was part of a five-Sphynx rescue out of New York. I had been a
volunteer for Helping Paws when I agreed to foster three of the five cats.
I fell in love instantly. He went everywhere with me! When I moved to
Michigan a few years ago, he was my co-pilot, refusing to stay in his carrier.
MooShoo was my soulmate. He was like no other cat that has ever owned me!!
I read, went online, to the library, just to make sure I knew how to care
for this magnificent breed!! MooShoo and I had a very special bond. His
breeder/owner failed to treat a herpes virus in his litter's eyes, causing
scar tissue to form on their corneas. He was blind in one eye and had very
limited vision in the other. He and only one other Sphynx from his litter
survived. The other two girls died from "failure to thrive." But that
didn't stop him from keeping up with the rest of his fursiblings. And it
didn't hurt his cat show career! He won his National "Regal" title in the
A.A.C.E. (American Association of Cat Enthusiasts) cat shows. He won the
hearts of every judge he came into contact with.
He loved being held like a baby, on his back, looking at the world upside
down. I'd dance around the room singing to the tune of "Mr. Sandman"
substituting Mr. Mooman. It was our ritual. He also kept me company when on the "loo."
MooShoo went to the Rainbow Bridge on February 13, 2010 from Thrombosis. I
was beside myself. I was so used to having him in my arms next to me when I
went to bed, listening to his wonderful loud purr, inhaling his unique
scent, I couldn't sleep. No cat has ever touched my life as the "Mooman"
had. There will never be another MooShoo.
I will see you again, my precious man, "One Fine Day!"
