Vega, the Cat of the Day
Name: Vega
Age: Four and a half years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Balinese
Home: Vicenza, Italy

This beautiful lady is our Vega. She is quite a special girl and quite a big girl as well. She is now 4 1/2 years old and a whopping 10 kg (22 pounds). When she was first brought home she was a normal sized eight-week-old kitten.

Let's start out with her story. Vega was found in the warehouse of my husband's work, inside the American base here in Vicenza, Italy. She was hard to catch as she was tiny enough to slip inside the slats of palettes and squish herself behind boxes and under freezers. Seems she was dumped there just the day before hubby caught her as she was never seen before that. Hubby's boss called asking if he would catch her when he came into work. He spent more than two hours trying to catch her. He told me she was a 'savage'. She tore into a heavy pair of work gloves and gave him a nasty bite. Hee hee! When he came home in the morning he brought her inside and straight into the bathroom as we had no where else to put her due to the fact we had taken in another abandoned kitty who had just had four kittens and they were in my husband's work room. I went in to see Vega and she looked so scared. I decided to see just how aggressive she was so took a cat toy to stroke her. She melted the second she was touched and began purring. I called hubby into the bathroom where he found me, about ten minutes after he had gotten home, with Vega in my arms with her little eyes closed and purring her heart out.

Vega is a lover. She isn't a big talker but she lets you know what she wants. She loves everyone (with fur) that she comes in contact with. As for the actual people... well that's a different story. She loves her people. She growls and runs and hides if someone comes into the house she doesn't know. Though she is now the alpha cat in the house she still grooms her sisters and brothers. She loves to 'headbonk' them as well. She has some quirky habits. She actually brushes herself. I will hold her brush and she will rub over it in the direction and in the location she wants to be groomed. She can do this for hours. She also has solo races through the house where she will literally ricochet off doors and walls to change direction without breaking stride or slowing down.

She is a dream of a cat. She is the sweetest, most loving and special girl. Her ice blue eyes are something out of this world and her fur is like spun silk. She is not only beautiful but funny and unique in so many wonderful ways. We love her very much and can't imagine not having kept this little girl, who, by the paws of our pet angels, was brought into our life. She is our 'dolce principessa'.
