This
is Little Buster who joined us in August. We had gone to my in-laws
for the bi-annual family reunion and on the way I kidded my husband about
hoping that we didn't find another stray cat at the reunion as we had two
years ago. Fortunately we found a good home for that cat when we returned home.
When we pulled into the yard at my in-laws this little guy came racing
towards the car yowling his head off. Since my in-laws hate cats I figured
it was a stray. Sure enough he had been dropped off the day before at their
house. My mother-in-law ordered the cat gone and my father-in-law was going
to take him to town and drop him on the street however he waited for me to
arrive since he knows I have a tender spot for cats. He knew of course that
I would take him home. Buster was starving and all my in-laws had that they
would give me was an egg salad sandwich which Buster gobbled down. I
stopped at the store on the way to the reunion and bought some canned food
for him and he had a whole can in the car.
Once we returned home I placed ads at the local vet's office and in the
paper but had no takers. After two weeks I knew I couldn't let him go and
although my husband wasn't too happy since we already had five cats he agreed
we could keep him since he also had gotten attached to him. Buster is best
friends with Spencer (cat of the day April 17, 2011) and they play and
chase each other around the house for hours each day, sleep together and
groom each other.
We purposely didn't name Buster since I didn't intend to keep him but my
husband started calling him little Buster so the name stuck. He's such a
sweet little guy who loves to snuggle and sleeps beside me every night. He
plays with most anything but in particular he likes mice and fuzzy balls.
He also loves to knock things off counters and window sills and then shove
them under the refrigerator.
It's amazing how you think you just can't find room for another pet and yet
somehow they burrow into your heart and you can't imagine life without
them. Buster brightens my day every day with his antics and he's truly a
joy to have in our cat family.
