Cuddles
is so special to us. I found her in a small cage at a pet store for
"free" because no one wanted her. She was the only one in the front of the
cage "pawing" and "meowing" at me to let her out. It was really love at
first sight for me. She was so insistent and melted my heart, I decided to
add her our family.
Cuddles has grown to be a big girl, weighing in a nineteen pounds she still runs
around like a kitten. She is so smart too! She "meows" whenever she wants
anything. We sometimes call her "Lassie" because she will "meow" and walk
to an area of the house she wants us to go, i.e. food bowl, brush pedestal,
out on the patio. She always knows when it is bed time too. She runs to the
bedroom, jumps on the bed and meows for her nighttime snack.
We recently moved and now she has a new "meow." She is too big to jump
really high so she will "meow" at us until we pick her up and place her on
the bathroom ledge so she can watch us each shower. Cuddles even runs to
the phone when it rings and literally "paws" the phone off the hook!
Although, the phone does not bother her, she growls whenever someone knocks
on the door or rings the bell.
Taking her to the vet is a different story... we had to switch vets because
she literally growled at the former doctor. I had the feeling she didn't
care for him much so we search for a nicer doctor. She now has a female
doctor whom she loves (as do we). Once I saw Cuddles "nudge" the doctor for
a little "pet" and then I knew, Cuddles was "okay" with her. She still
growls at the vet tech's but she is all talk and no action. Cuddles hates
medicine and we have been through a series of ways to try to "fool" her but
she is too smart. Hopefully, she will never need any long term medicine as
I don't know what we would do.
She is our special girl and we love her so much. Christmas is always fun to
spend with her as she loves to "help" open our gifts and even opens her own!
Happy Holidays from "Santa's Helper."
