Blue
has more personality than any cat I've owned. Blue is a high energy,
outgoing, confident, "alpha" kitten. He has never met a person he hasn't
liked. He is infatuated with the brown chicken under the kitchen island
table. He continually "rides" that chicken. As you may see, I had to steady
the chicken with cans of soup to keep he and the chicken upright. He loves to
run after anything... balls, stuffed mice and his sister Bella. Blue, being
a male Maine Coon is kind of a "plow horse" compared to his sister who is
smaller, fleeter and much more athletic.
"Affection" is on Blue's terms; Maine Coons are also known as "the dog
lover's cat" where as much of the time he will follow me from room to room
and prefers to lie in my vicinity. Only when he feels like it will he want to
be "on" me. Maine Coons are also sometimes known to actually like water, Blue
just doesn't mind water. We have a large shower and he doesn't mind walking
in and looking around. He doesn't particularly like to be sprayed with water
(he will stay out of the direct water flow) but he certainly doesn't mind
getting wet. He is a curious little kitty.
He sleeps on the bed nightly. During the night, almost nightly, he will give
me a very nice "scalp massage" usually around 4:00 AM. At 5:30 AM it's time
to get up and feed him. He goes through his daily routine of pouncing on my
hands and feet then running across me in an effort to get me up. From there
he reaches under the covers trying to pull my hands or feet out. If that
doesn't work, (I sleep with a CPAP machine); he will try to pull the mask off
my face... which always gets me up. His sister, Bella just watches and lets
him do all of the work, so breakfast arrives on time!
