I
wanted a cat and went to visit PetSmart in Chandler, AZ where I used to
live. After walking through there and visiting with several cats that were
freely wandering through the adoption area I went to look at the cats in the
cages. I saw this Peanuty sleeping in a bed in the back of the cage. When I
stopped in front of one of the cages this cat got up and came to the door and
rubbed against my hand. The information on the door gave her age, name
(Fergie) and that she was a female tortoiseshell. I was unfamiliar with this
breed of cat. I asked the attendant if I could hold her. The attendant told
me that other cats did not like her and this is why her previous Mommy had
surrendered her as there was too much chaos in the household. That all
happened after Peanut had come home from being spayed. Once that girl was put
in my arms that was it, I knew she was the girl for me!
She talked to me all the way home and one of the things I immediately
discovered about her was her extreme curiosity :-) One of the first things I
did was change her name to Peanut, she just was not a Fergie. She quickly
became my best buddy in the world. I loved coming home to her after work, she
fulfilled my life... I loved her and she loved me. Six months later I took
in her Calico sister Missy from neighbors who were going to be moving. Though
they are not cuddle Peanuties they certainly love each other and play
endlessly. I will have had Peanut with me for six years in January. We moved
back to my home town area in California three years ago and life with Peanut has
continued to be joyful. She was readily accepting and loving of all my
friends and family members. She especially has a very close relationship with
my eighteen-year-old nephew who adores her!
It's so hard for me to imagine her being given up by someone, but their loss
was the biggest gain in my life! She is so entertaining, playful, charming,
inquisitive, loving and is the best friend ever!
