This
is my cat, Theodore, or "Teddy" as I call him a lot of the time. He
is a male Seal-point Himalayan, and lives in Portland Oregon. Teddy has a
calm and gentle nature and of all the cats I've had in my life (and there
have been many) he far surpasses them all when it comes to the quality of
devotion. I have never had a pet that would choose rather to be at my side
receiving my attention than to eat. In the morning when I get ready for
work I have to close myself in the bathroom or bedroom or he will be there
at my feet, leaving his breakfast dish untouched. He has a limp when he
walks due to arthritis in his hips and joints but insists on following me
from room to room even on the days when it's acting up more than usual.
He has a funny peculiarity about him that amuses everyone. He likes to
have "nursies"! I hold him in my lap on his back in the crook of my left
arm like a baby and ask him, "Do you want nursies?" and he immediately
gets all excited and grabs my hand with both his paws and pulls it toward
him and starts sucking with delight on one finger after another until he's
hit all of them several times each. After a minute he slows down and I ask
him "Have you had enough?" and he has this contented look on his face like
he has a full tummy! What a nut. I don't remember when this got started
but we keep doing it because he obviously enjoys it so much and everyone
thinks it's so funny.
I couldn't ask for a better companion pet. He is waiting for me at the
door after work every day and his greatest delight is just to be with me
and have me pet him and talk to him and let him be a part of whatever I'm
doing. In return I try to give him the best life that I can for as long as
we are together and to show him that he means as much to me as I do to him.
