Alfie's
life is truly a gift. Found as a very tiny kitten by a 92-year-old
woman, she wasn't even fed. She was too young to eat on her own and her
keeper didn't know how to give her nourishment correctly. Taken by a
neighbor to a pet accessories store, Alfie was left in a basket on the
floor. When told the store did not sell animals and she would die anyway,
the neighbor stated he was leaving her, and walked out.
Fortuitously, a lady from a pet rescue agency just happened by and quickly
whisked Alfie to a vet who literally saved her life. Five months later I
met that gorgeous kitty at a Petsmart, which did allow the organization,
called Peaceful Pause, to display cats ready for adoption. The folks who
raised Alfie and other cats were wonderful, kind, and caring individuals.
I adopted Alfie and another kitty very shortly thereafter. They are best
buddies, catching bugs, observing the birds and squirrels, and tumbling
around together.
Alfie goes crazy over bananas, cantaloupes, oatmeal, and most anything
else she can eat. For her, any object is for play. Her favorites are a toy
mouse or feather hidden under a small rug, or a string pulled across the
floor. Alfie's curiosity and kittenish behavior are endearing. Hopefully
both cats will be my friends and companions for many years to come.
