This
is Pilot Sabean Preacher MacLeod. He is a Russian Blue shorthair from
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada. His zany zest for life is what makes him special.
I have to be honest, Pilot is a pain in the neck sometimes, who really
enjoys harassing his older, smaller brother (our other cat). He also likes
sniping at our ankles with his razor sharp claws and tripping people on
the stairs. But he's so cute we can't stay mad at him for long. He's a bit
neurotic, and does love to chase his own tail, which is hilarious, because
he is the clumsiest cat I've ever seen, and certainly doesn't land on his
feet. You haven't really laughed until you've seen a sixteen-pound cat
knock himself down while chasing his own tail, and then continue to chase
it, swishing himself around in circles on the floor.
He's independent, but likes to run to the door to greet people so he can
show them how unimportant they are by walking away as soon as they walk
in, lol. About his names, his last name is our last name, and we chose his
first and third names based on two characters from Sci-Fi shows we watch
(Pilot from Farscape (he has the same eyes!) and Preacher from Firefly).
His middle name is actually chosen from my husband and I's list of baby
names in case we ever have kids, lol.
He doesn't do sailing, but I think he's into boxing, at least with dogs -
we had a nice German Shepherd visit here one day, and I had to throw
myself between them because Pilot was going to take her out - he hit me
hard enough to leave a bruise for two weeks, the little devil!
Pilot is a pretty good boy - we have a new kitten, and as he is the
spitting image of Pilot, he has decided to take the little guy Thegn,
(pronounced Thane) under his wing and show him the ropes around here. So
far he's played and wrested with Thegn, shown him how to chase the
door-mounted mouse toy, and let him crawl all over Pilot's considerable bulk.
When he's loving, he's very loving, and will follow you around like a dog
looking for attention. He never steals people food, which makes it nice
that he has a habit of sitting on the counter and looking out the kitchen
window while I clean or do dishes. He doesn't usually meow, just makes
adorable "merp" and burbling sounds. He is very confident, and doesn't
know any strangers, lol. He also has a really charming habit of knowing
when you're upset and coming over to purr and headbutt or rub against you
when you come into the room. It's the only time he wants to be in your lap
voluntarily!
He really is a nice cat, he's just so mischievous that sometimes that's all I remember!
