Orange, the Cat of the Day
Name: Orange
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Kind: Medium hair tortoiseshell
Home: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

This is my baby, Orange. Isn't she a beauty? She was a stray who wandered into my yard, and I'm so glad she did. Since no one claimed her, I decided she was meant to be mine.

She is as sweet as she is beautiful. I don't know her exact age, probably around eight years old. She got her name the first time I saw her and said to my son, "Who is that big Orange cat?" From the kitchen window, all I saw was an orange (more of a rusty-orange) cat. I went out, and said "Hello, orange cat!" She was so friendly, not scared at all, as if she knew she was meant to be mine. The name stuck , she became "Orange Cat." Everyone says "she isn't orange!" when they see her. I tell them she doesn't know that and likes her name! She knows her name, but also responds to "Gorgeous" or "Sweetie."

I should mention that I did try to find out where she came from with ads, and phone calls, but no one claimed her. She's a great addition to my cat family of four. She's the only one that would pose in the Santa hat! She's a ham for the camera! She truly is a sweet, gentle cat. Her ear was deformed like that when I first saw her, the Vet said she may have had a hematoma at one time that wasn't taken care of. It doesn't seem to bother her.

I can also tell the world she is a contortionist! When she plays, she'll twist her body into the strangest positions! She will play with anything, and I mean anything! Shoestrings, aluminum foil, and anything that moves. She loves her cat trees, the top is her favorite sleeping spot. She can tolerate grooming, but only on her terms, and for a few minutes at a time. When she gives me that "look," I know it's time to stop.

Orange loves people, she is truly a "people cat." She also likes the company of my other three cats, although they tend to pick on her. They chase her up the cat tree, but I'm sure it is all in good fun. An hour later I catch them sleeping back to back!

Orange is my sweet baby girl, and I love her!
