Dorry, the Cat of the Day
Name: Dorry
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Domestic Shorthair Tabby
Home: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Meet the young gentleman of my home and heart, Dorian Gray Esq. I adopted him from a wonderful local shelter, Cause4Paws, just a week after my beloved Nicky, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at age thirteen. As I was unable to attend an adoption day, after a detailed interview, the shelter ladies graciously brought several kittens whom we agreed might be right for me, to my house. While the other kitties roamed about, a sleek self-assured silvery tabby curled up on my gray sofa and snuggled in for a nap. We both knew that he had chosen his furever home. He is named after the main character in Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray." But he has not as yet grown into his full name, so I call him Dorry. Like the fictional character, my kitty is at times "wicked," or shall I say cat-like. This becomes obvious when he wants something, such as my total attention. Also like the fictional character, who remained young as his picture aged, my boy still seems kittenish, so maybe there is something in a name.

In the flesh I'm told that he looks like the kitty in the Friskies ads or the one where the guy is snuggling with his kitty and doesn't realize his conference call is still on. I'm coming to think that TV kitties are either doped, or maybe that's why ad agency photographers earn the big bucks!

These photos are taken on a high cabinet that poor Dorry got up on, but is a bit nervous jumping off of (the only way to keep my "poetry in motion" kitty still.) I gently lifted him down after the session, as a reward for holding still-ish for once!
