This
is Bacon Tiberius Brock MacLeod. He is a male, mostly short-haired
black and white stray we took in last year, and may have some Persian way
back in the family tree. He is from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada, and
we are not exactly sure how old he is, but according to the vet, he was
"at least ten years old," and that was last year, so let's say eleven years
old. He weighs eight pounds now, which is a nice change from the three to
four pounds that he weighed when we took him in!
His amazingly human personality is what makes him special, along with his
hobbies, which include 3 am caterwauling and sleeping on people's faces.
He is also highly proficient in the delivery of dirty looks.
We noticed Bacon hanging around the area about three years ago, not long after
we moved here (we were barbecuing bacon, hence the first name), but he
seemed to be in good shape at the time, so we assumed he had an owner, and
he came and went. Then about this time last year, we noticed he was
showing up more and looked pretty rough, so we started feeding him, though
he still seemed to be going "home" somewhere at night. One day we pulled
the barbecue grill out only to find that he'd been sleeping under the
cover. We took him into the basement that day, got him cleaned up and
cleared of parasites over the next month or so, then moved him upstairs
with our other cat, Pilot.
He's definitely affectionate, and loves to snuggle and be patted. He's the
only cat I ever knew who actually likes to be under the covers. He hates
the cold, no doubt having spent far too much time being cold before we
took him in. Once the cold weather hits, he heads right for the nearest
air vent and lays over it. He also steals heating bags when we're on the
couch. When he gets ticked he will avoid you for days, though, looking at
you like you're just the worst person in the world, and running away while
looking back over his shoulder to make sure you feel really bad, lol.
He still loves people food, especially our local Acropole Pizza, and
McDonalds, which is basically the kind of food most people would drop and
he would get a chance to eat when being a stray around here,. He once
stole an entire KFC chicken leg from our roommate when he only looked away
for a second! He loves gravy, and purrs like a small freight train. He
likes to sniff foreheads and if you chuck his chin just right, he does
this adorable love bite thing with his old dull teeth.
