Píďa, the Cat of the Day
Name: Píďa
Age: Five months old
Gender: Female
Kind: Cat
Home: Koštice, Czech Republic

Meet Píďa (pronounced "Peedya"). Let me explain... Minda, the first cat we cared for at our cottage came to us with two kittens that grew up, named Hopik and Svině. One from these two had a kitten Plushie ... and not too long ago Minda came back with other two kittens that had grown up a bit as well. Originally we thought they should be older than Plushie, but because Plushie grew up at our cottage since born, he had better food and life and plus he's a male cat so he is a lot bigger than these two kittens. Both of these two new kittens are females, so now we have five female cats and one male cat. The new ones were so scared at first, but now they are more calm. One of them is colored the same as Plushie, but with shorter fur, and the other one is all black, and that is this kitten in this photo! Her name is Píďa. Originally mom called her Pidloočko (squinteye) because you can notice that her face and eyes are weirdly shaped a bit, while the other kittens have completly different faces. But it's quite bad calling her that so I shorted it from Pidloočko to Píďa. This would translate to be “Squintie” in English, I guess.

She is an unusual cat, yet it makes her look so cute and special. She has short fur, but a lot of fur compared to most cats, which makes her look fluffier like a teddy bear. She has a small face on a big head, her eyes are weirdly small shaped and the same with her nose and mouth. If you look at her from side, she has a big forehead and flat nose. She has small body and really short legs, almost like a dachshund. Also her tail is short and I think she also has a small deformation called "bunny cat" - a bunny cat can't walk with hind legs normally, they have to move them both at the same time forward or backward, like a jumping bunny. Píďa can walk normally, but when she wants to walk a bit faster or run, she jumps with hind legs like a bunny and her butt jumps up more because of it, more than if a normal cat runs. But even though she looks a bit weird by this, she looks so cute in photos, she is as photogenic as could be.

She loves cuddling and patting, but she isn't used to being picked up yet and then she panics and scratches to get out of your arms. We hope she will allow it more as time goes on, and we love her just as she is.
