Annie
is one of my four foster "failures". I took her in, along with her three
orphan brothers on Mother's Day last year, to help the Nevada SPCA. The
kittens were about two weeks old, dehydrated, starving and it was feared they
would not survive the night... especially Annie. She is the runt of the litter
and was in very bad shape. I took them home and bottle fed them every few
hours for the first few days and got them hydrated. It was a long couple of
days, but they all pulled through and grew to be gorgeous, fluffy kitties. I
named her Annie for "Little Orphan Annie"... although she is not a little
orphan any longer-she belongs to me, and so do her three brothers. (I foster
failed in a big way!)
Annie is a very special little lady. She looks nothing like her
snowshoe/ragdoll mix brothers and she is very tiny... only about four pounds (1.8 kg) -
most of which is silky, fluffy fur. Annie may be small, but she gives her
brothers a run for their money and it is not uncommon to see a tiny black
streak chasing one of the much larger, cream-colored kitties through the
house at top speed! She is very sweet, dainty and lady-like, but also very
silly. She plays like a little kitten, loves to have her tummy tickled (on
her terms of course) and loves the bathroom faucet and sink. I've never had a
cat that actually laid down in the sink and allowed the water to run on her
while she played in it... but Annie does! Annie even has a very dainty
meow... it's more like a tiny little whisper-squeak. As you can see in the
photo, Annie has a pretty outstanding, fluffy tail. She is very proud of it
and flicks it around to let you know it!
Annie is just a little sweetheart. I'm so happy that I was at the SPCA that
day and that I was able to nurse her and her brothers back to health and
adopt them all. They bring me so much joy and companionship every day!
