Maxwell the Tabby Mix the Cat of the Day
Name: Maxwell
Age: Four years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Tabby Mix
Home: Worcester, Massachusetts, USA

Maxwell wormed his way into our lives at the worst possible time and I'm so glad he did. I was still living at home with my parents and this large fluff ball of a cat meandered up to me on a warm day in April. He was affable though, after a pet or two, got a little bitey. So I left it at that, posted him on the town's "missing pets" Facebook listing and moved on.

    He, however, did not.

He continued to come around and each time got progressively friendlier, rubbing up against legs and purring. He definitely let his presence be known!

The summer and fall passed by allowing us to grow closer to him, our dog Nilla (a large elder Husky/Labrador mix) even started liking him (though he'd never admit it). As winter grew closer however we were faced with a hard decision. Was he going to be our forever cat or were we going to turn him into a shelter. My fiance and I talked about it. We hadn't intended on getting a full-grown cat, nor had we intended on getting an animal right then! We lived in two separate locations, saw each other maybe once a week, and on top of it, still weren't sure when we were moving in together.

October of 2013 brought about some harsh nights and we found Max sleeping under the porch, right up against the house. It broke my heart. That day I coaxed him inside and set him up with us. We say he is approximately four years old, but don't know for sure.

He's been with us since then and made the move with me when I left my parents' house. His personality has flown freely from there. He is a highly vocal cat and at 14 pounds is a big ball of love. Now he can be found wandering from room to room in our apartment, napping, and in general being the most lovable cat I have ever run into.

He also herds. It's a very odd behavior from a cat, but if there is one member of the family or a guest that is in the 'wrong' room he will walk over and begin to escort them back! To say he is family centered may be an understatement.

We think he might have been a dog in his past life.
