Jake (a.k.a. Mr. Jakes, a.k.a. Mr. Niblets) was saved from a collector that had over 30 cats and we estimate he was 2-3 years old when I adopted him. I remember seeing this big bull-dog like cat saunter up to me and start rubbing and head butting my legs. I was honored that he picked me to socialize with, since his foster name was Bashful ... guess he was shy, but all that changed when I took him home.
Initial introductions to his new house mate Scooter were a bit rocky, but they soon became bed mates and would snuggle together when sleeping, hough that wore off the last few years they were together.
I have so many fond memories of my big sweet boy! Although not a lap cat, he was the BEST head butter on the planet and used that ploy to get lots of love and skritches. His other past times were playing fetch with his toy mice, watching the birds in the feeders out the kitchen window and purring up a storm when he got his “brushies.” He would often sleep next to me in my bed, especially in the winter on top of a nice cushy pillow – so spoiled! :)
I miss him every day and things still don't seem right without him here. He took a piece of my heart when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but I'm so glad I had him for those 14 years.
