Ink the Domestic Shorthair
Name: Ink
Age: One year old
Gender: Female
Kind: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Los Angeles, California, USA

This is Ink. She is pretty and she knows it. However, she's also a fat little sausage due to her propensity for food - wet food. She'll eat her brother Spam's share after he "buries" it.

She's a lovebug. She insists that she gets my chest, lap, arms, hands, and pets. She will run to me while I'm sleeping, bathroom, and working on my comics. Ink has an adorable way of hugging me - where she torpedoes me with her fuzziness and wraps her velvet arms around my hand and arm. When she sees me, she will plump down onto the floor in a fit of love haze and roll around asking me to rub her belly. I am quite happy to oblige her.

Another funny thing about her is that she's remarkably shy with people. While Spam loves to come up and meet people, she will spazz out and hide.

Two girls at work had kittens and I always wanted a black one. I met Ink, and she was the only girl out of all her littermates. When I picked her up, she was happy and calm, purring away and hugging my arm. Funny enough, she's developed a taste for jewelry - of which at least she's stopped chewing my rings and bracelet. She grabs at my necklace while I do push-ups and has the smallest eyes of a cat I ever seen. Yet she's cute as an owl with velvet fur to match. Unfortunately, like velvet, she picks up all the lint and dust around our house. That's a pretty funny sight.

I don't know what goes through her mind. Ink and her brother both hate water with a passion, but will jump headfirst into the toilet or the empty bathtub and run all around. However, when I first disciplined her by squirting her with a bottle, she looked at me with this sassy look, "You're not going to squirt me with that, right?" Of course I did, because I wanted her to stop her behavior. She still doesn't run when I show it to her.

Ink is extremely talkative. She burbles, mews, purrs, meows, maiows, cries, and makes odd little spastic noises of when she runs or stretches. She is vocal while Spam is not so much. Even though she is smaller and shorter than Spam, when they wrestle she can well enough hold her own. She works so hard at her craft that even her butt is as big as his. She does fight dirty as she tried to bite on his nether regions the other day - but he put a stop to that. She's a bit jealous of him and will muscle in on pets or start nibbling on him while he's cuddling with me. I am always careful to put a stop to that. I won't tolerate bullying in my home. He's beginning to stand up to her with the food himself.

Just now she discovered the trick of sitting on my lap whilst I work. She seemed so satisfied when she didn't need to balance her plump butt in the narrow strip of my desk where the keyboard was.

She's my Ink and I love her.
