Kara was a skinny little girl with an oversized personality when she picked me at the shelter. She had been found wandering in downtown Manhattan and was so beautiful she couldn't have been homeless for long. She had a very long body and tail; I always thought she must have been part Maine Coon as her coat was very thick as well.
She eventually grew into that tail and was a very big girl most of her life, leading to her many nicknames such as the Porcine Princess. She was named after two tough heroines, Supergirl and Kara Thrace from "Battlestar Galactica," so it is only natural that she had plenty of attitude. She was very friendly and affectionate, but you had to watch out for the tortitude coming out when she decided she had had enough petting! She will be missed.
