Pax the Domestic Shorthair, the Cat of the Day
Name: Pax
Age: Ten months old
Gender: Female
Kind: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Tennessee, USA

First let me tell you how I got my baby girl. One day on June 14, my dad was going to work. All was fine, and he started coming home. He asked me whether I wanted strawberries (I said yes, I have an addiction to strawberries) and so he went to Kroger and they had rotten strawberries so he went to Charlotte (which almost always has rotten strawberries). He couldn't find any good strawberries so he took the back roads to our house when all of a sudden he saw a little black thing on side of the road. At first, he thought it was a baby squirrel because it was so tiny, but then he saw cat ears ! It was a baby kitten ! As he came to this realization, the baby kitten ran away into the weeds. Dad came home and told me about the kitten and we went back and searched for her. We couldn't find her.

When Dad got off work the next day at the same time we went to find her. As we came down this little, creepy side road we saw this black figure ... the baby kitten !!!!!!!!!! I ran out of the car and snatched her up, but something was very wrong. She was so skinny, you could feel every bone and she was breathing heavily, she was starving and had an upper respiratory infection. You could smell dead stuff in the weeds also, her mother had gotten ran over and the side of the road was the last place she saw her mom. She had been waiting for her Mom that never came back. We searched for her brothers and sisters but they had sadly died .We took her home to my mom (who is a vet) and Mom said she probably wouldn't live. We then cleaned her nose out so she could smell food and gave her a can of wet food (all we had at the moment) and she ate. We then set up the basement so the kitten could stay, but every time I left, the Kit started crying. So I took her into our spare bedroom, got it set up and she slept on me.

I didn't get an ounce of sleep for days, and in the middle of the night she started breathing heavier than usual and I went and got mom. Mom looked at her and we started trying to play with her, and she started trying to play with us! For the next days we did the normal kitten stuff. Ya know give them milk (she was 3 weeks old), potty train them, let them sleep on you, ect ! Then it was time to introduce Pax (I decided to name her Pax because I was listing to an audiobook about a boy and his fox, named Pax) to Sue (Sushi, my other kitty). He HATED her !! Oh no, I thought, this was not good. But then we slowly introduced them and then they started playing. It was so beautiful! Pax started jumping on Sue's head and he started swatting at her playfully !!! He (Sue) finally had accepted her into the family ! (Sue and Pax got an extra helping of can food with kitten milk replacement in it that night !)

Pax is special because she is a survivor.

Pax is special because she is smart.

Pax is special because she is Sue's best friend. Pax is special because she is part of the family. Pax is special because she is my baby girl. Pax came into my life at the most unexpected moment and turned it around for the better. She and Sue helped me get through my parent's divorse, school bullying, and my beloved grandpaw's death (due to stupid cancer). My grandpaw was my best friend (I never got along with my parents). He used to read me stories, and go hunting with me, ect. And my two babies helped me get through his death. They helped me through Everything, and I love them dearly for it. Every Pet is special to their owner, but my babies are so much more. They actually understand what you say to them ! In conclusion, they are special because of everything they are, everything they've done, and who they will become. They are special because they are Momma's (me) baby boy and girl ! I love you so much Sushi and Pax! You guys will always be special to your momma!!
