This is my (extremely large) boy, Blaze. Everybody who meets Blaze says he is the biggest or longest cat they have ever seen. It's amazing how much he has grown since I got him at only three months old! He was the last little kitten at the SPCA and I instantly fell in love with him.
Blaze is an indoor/outdoor cat, but he (unlike my other cat Pixie) prefers to be outside most of the day. I will sometimes see him prowling around outside or stalking another animal. I don't encourage him to catch other critters, but it his nature. Some people call him Mountain Lion because of his size and how much he hunts.
Blaze loves to terrorize my other cat Pixie, Pixie wants nothing to do with any other cats. But Blaze will often come up behind Pixie and paw at her and sometimes even get on top of her! He is like the annoying little brother while Pixie is like the older sister who just wants Blaze to leave her alone! But occasionally Blaze and Pixie will share a rare bonding moment and touch noses. But Blaze is only being playful when he bugs Pixie. With cats he doesn't know, it is a different story. When we got a barn cat named Carly who is really sweet, Blaze immediately became territorial and aggressive towards her, hissing whenever she came near. I have to keep him inside whenever I feed Carly.
Although Blaze is either hissing or teasing other cats, he seems to do okay with our dogs Frida and Monty. They will follow him around and Blaze will let them for a little while, he will seem content. But once he gets tired of them, he will let them know with a swat of his paw and sometimes a hiss.
Blaze is only a vocal cat when he wants to eat at night. Every night I feed him and Pixie inside where they sleep and while I am getting the food ready. He will sometimes sit downstairs meowing very loudly until I bring him his food.
One of the ways Blaze likes to show his love is by head butting. I will lower my head to wherever he is and he will walk over a give me a hard knock with his head! Sometimes he does it a little bit hard but I know that this is his own special way of saying “I love you.”
Blaze will always hold a special place in my heart and I love him so much!!
