Sox is my sweet boy kitty, and he lives with two females, Inez and Beuky. He came to me from a coworker eight years ago when he was six tears old or so, after a difficult start in life. His first home had many young children who would handle him roughly and argue over who got to hold the cute little guy, so he was a nervous cat for a long time. Then his next home was with a person who did a lot of fostering of shelter dogs, so that made him nervous also. Now he lives a quieter life with a single man and twoother gentle cats who coexist very well with him. He even greets and rubs against strangers such as repairmen these days, so he truly mellowed in his middle age.
He loves to jump up on the computer desk when I'm looking at other CatsoftheDay on the Web, then he purrs and extends his head to rub my chin with it. He insists on "going for a walk" in the hallway of my apartment building every evening, and he lets me cradle him like a baby when I carry him back to my doorway. Among other habits, he loves to relax amongst my shoes near the entryway, so then it's a case of "Sox and Shoes." And last but not least he earns his keep by guarding the toilet once in a while.
