We were so fortunate to have been Madison's "parents" for ten years in Toronto, Ontario. He was about 6 when he came to us from a bad situation in Montreal, Quebec. Being such a sociable boy, he fit in immediately with his new brothers and sisters. It didn't matter who came to our house, if you sat down, he made sure that he settled on your lap (and he was a big boy!!). He made everyone feel welcome, especially those who were not truly cat lovers. He made it his mission and was determined that you would become one before you left.
Madison had so many funny habits that made us roar. He would start chewing on his front leg if you scratched down his back. It was the funniest thing to see and made us laugh every time. Although he was not very vocal, he would meow periodically but you would have to listen very hard as it sounded like someone who had a bit of laryngitis. He was allowed escorted visits into the backyard and loved being outside with us but was just as happy to be back in the house when it was time to come in. Very sadly, Madison had a stroke and was beyond help. The sting of saying goodbye to such a loving and wonderful companion will be felt for a very long time. We miss you terribly, sweet Mattie, but are so thankful for the years we were blessed to have you.
