I was lucky enough to find Zuess on a day trip - I stopped by a Flea market, and a lady was giving the eight-week-old kittens away.
I had always had dogs and knew nothing about cats, that didn't last long and even when I found what a Maine Coon cat was. He is very independent and will let you pet him or hold him on his terms ONLY.
It still shocks me to hear the tiny voice come from such a large cat. By the time he was 18 months old, he "only" weighed 14.5 lbs but had outgrown his 19-inch T.V.. I have been told they can get to be 30 lbs.
He is a treat, and not as time consuming as having a dog to take out in the rain and fielding complaints from the neighbors about the barking. Although the chirping noise he gives trying to call the birds is quite adorable.
