Mikey the Tabby, the Cat of the Day
Name: Mikey
Age: Deceased, Seventeen years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Tabby
Home: Colorado, USA

My name was Mikey and I was such a handsome fella as you can see. I was born in Hot Sulfur Springs Colorado and lived under a restaurant and hotel with all my relatives. There were about 20 of us and it wasn't easy getting something to eat so one day I went across the street and saw a pickup there and jumped in it. I was only about three months old at the time. The nice lady with the truck took me home and it as paradise. I moved into a grocery store!! There was so much to get into and eat. I got my name from the Life cereal commercial that said " Give it to Mikey, he'll eat anything." I lived up to that name well. There was another cat there when I moved in and she and I didn't get along too well for a while, but then we became best friends.

I lived there for a while and then moved to Boulder Colorado where we lived in an apartment that meant my outside time was done. But we only lived there for a while and then true paradise! We moved into the mountains of Colorado in the national forest.

We lived there for about 12 years and I had a great time. I was an indoor-outside kitty and my human would open the door to let me in and out but only when he allowed me to go out. I always wanted out at night and he would give me these long talks about my not being at the top of the food chain (HAH,little did he know) and there were things out there that would like to have me for dinner. I would sit and politely listen to him and then I would go to the door wanting out which he totally ignored. We had a wood stove to heat the house with and that other cat better known as the Queen wouldn't let me sleep in the box under it. But one day she left and didn't come home. Dad said she had gotten real sick and went to Rainbow Bridge. I missed her for a while but then realized it was all mine. Mine, mine , mine. Then my favorite spot was under the wood stove in the winter. Winter wasn't much fun. It was cold and snowed a lot and after a few months of that I would go out no matter what. Dad called it cabin fever.

Then I moved into a fifth-wheel RV and it went down the road. I was 16 years old at the time and still a kitten at heart and that was so much fun. I was only allowed out on a leash but I adapted quickly and got to see a lot of stuff. That winter in Alamo Texas I got real sick and the vet said I had renal kidney failure. I tried to hang on but just couldn't make and I died on Christmas Day 2003. I was 17 years old and my dad still really misses me.
