This is Rumsford, and here is the story of how he got his name. After our cat Bacardi died, my step-father was looking everywhere for a tuxedo cat because Barcardi had been a tuxedo cat.
My mom had been very attached to this cat because they had been friends ever since she was just out of high school. So finally my step-dad brought one home. At first I thought it was a big rat because he was small and he ran under a curtain. But when he came out, he was the cutiest little thing I have ever seen. We kept thinking long and hard about what his name was going to be and finally it clicked. Rumsford was going to be his name because he looked like our old cat, and Bacardi is a rum so we decided to name him Rumsford. And that's how he got his name.
Now as soon as he got to know us better he became the cutest and most loveable cat I have ever had. Now he is huge and he eats a lot too! And he's our little Rumsford even though he got so big! He is such a sweetheart, and he has helped us all heal, and remember Bacardi in a happy way while bringing his own Rumsford presence into our lives. His rum-bling purr is a sign he is glad to be here, too.
