Tigger, the Cat of the Day
Name: Tigger
Age: Deceased, Three years old
Gender: Male
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Buried in his favorite flower garden,
West Virginia, USA

My little Tigger had a rough but happy life. We found him on the street as a tiny baby. He was starved, barely had his eyes open, was very sick, and wounded. After weeks of nursing, he finally began to walk around on his own. He became the little angel of the house. He slept on my bed, and brightened all our lives with his antics. He loved to play fetch with his toy mouse. He'd bring it to you and drop it in your lap, then jump down and sit, waiting for you to throw it, much like a dog :-)

Our Golden Retriever, Taffy, was his best buddy. They had a big bed that they shared together. Tigger would always snuggle close to her to get warm. And they would sleep there for hours. Taffy was his protector. She always watched him when he was outside.

Last year Tiggy got a blood clot in his back legs, and he lost the use of one of them. He was sick for months, and almost died a few times. But by some miracle he pulled through again. My vet called him a walking miracle, and said that he had used up seven lives already. After that accident, he again led a full and happy life. He did very well on his three legs, could run, climb trees. I was proud of him. Then one day, he became sick suddenly. He only lasted two days. The vet didn't know what had happened this time. We couldn't do anything for him. He died purring in my arms, leaving a very empty spot in my life. I still miss him. I still wake up at night and reach down to pet him, then realize he's not there anymore. But I know in my heart that it's better this way. Little Tiggy won't have to suffer anymore. His pain is over. And I have the comfort of knowing that I kept him alive for a few years, and he had a good life despite the bad times. I'll never forget him. And he'll always be alive in my heart.
