This
is my cat Squeak who I rescued when she was a tiny stray
wandering around on the street in Cairo, Egypt. In the picture she is
asleep in a plant on my balcony. She is seven now, but this picture
was taken when she was about a year old. We were playing a version of
hide and seek, (where she hides in the plant and I pretend to find
her). She got sleepy in the middle of the game and just conked out!
When she was this age her absolutely favorite game was Fetch. One
could throw almost anything and she would bring it back in her mouth
and this would go on for hours and hours....
She doesn't actually live with me any more, but with my father and
stepmother in Alexandria, who looked after her once when I had to
travel, and wouldn't give her back! They dote on her absolutely and
claim that she does all sorts of clever things. She is very talkative
and is called Squeak because she doesn't have a proper meow but makes
a funny squeaky sound. When they come home she gets very excited and
lies on her back with all four paws in the air and wiggles! She loves
to play hide and seek behind the curtains and cashews are her
favorite treat.
