About Us
Emily, the Cat of the Day
Name: Emily
Age: 17 years old
Gender: Female
Breed: American shorthair
Home: Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, USA

This is my long-time kitty buddy, Emily. Her real name is Emily Litellavision Cat, named after the Gilda Radner Saturday Night Live character, Emily Litella. That's because Emily would sit on top of the television, and lean over to bat at the moving images.Even though she is getting on in cat-years, and is showing signs of being deaf, she can easily jump up onto my desk, and always comes running at the rattle of the cat treats box.

She always has a purr for me, is usually waiting inside the door when I come home, and I love her dearly. She's still the cat love of my life, even though she's a little slower. She still jumps up and down off my 3' high desk, and in fact she's sitting here right now, waiting for me to finish my cereal, so she can have the remaining milk. She may have some siamese in her, as she sits tall and straight, with her feet close together. She's dainty and ladylike. She doesn't bat at the TV anymore. I've read that without a scent, they don't think the images are real creatures. She never really showed interest in a red laser pen light, either. I've seen other cats that go nuts over that, though.

She takes charge over my other cat, Toes, who's 12. She was never happy that I brought another cat into the house, but has learned to tolerate Toes. They will sometimes lay on the bed together, but it's usually facing away from each other, as if she doesn't want to be reminded that that other cat is still there. Sometimes, when she realizes Toes is there, she'll kick Toes off the bed, even if they've been sleeping there for some time. I like kittens, but my older cats have such personality and are such a part of my family, that I can't imagine what it will be like when they're gone.
