Izzy,
whom we call Iz Biz, mostly because she is always busy and
never stops talking, is now two and a half years old. We got her at a
pet adoption at a local mall on a whim and it was the best and worst
day of my life. She sat alone in her cage surrounded by other kittens
which were paired with their brothers and sisters and she just stared
at us with this haunting look that she still has to this day,
followed by a kitten meow that she never grew out of, and constantly
uses! We already had a one-year-old female cat and really wanted to
get her a playmate, so we decided to do it that day.
Little did I know the patience I would need to integrate a new cat
into our household. Our first (and queen) cat, Annie, didn't like
being ousted from her throne by a strange little kitten and soon
havoc reigned over my household! The first day was the worst and I
felt incredible guilty! But after several weeks of being patient with
both of them (and a lot of help from my vet), they soon became fast
friends.
Izzy, even though she's younger, has taught Annie to be more playful
and even taught her how to do "happy feet" (knead with their paws) to
get my attention when she's tired and wants to cuddle. They are very
adorable! Izzy plays catch as well as any canine and can sit and have
a "conversation" with you for an hour if she thinks you are talking
to her (when you're on the phone, all that meowing can be a little
disconcerting!) She also loves having her belly scratched and will
flop down in front of you at any opportunity to have it rubbed. They
have both provided so much love and laughter that I can't remember my
household without them. They can help us de-stress from a tough day
almost immediately and I am forever thankful that we have them both.
