This
is a photo of Tigger, a calico tabby kitten, taken shortly after
her rescue from the local humane society. My daughter and I drove to
the shelter in order to pick out a kitten for her third
birthday. Upon entering the building, I was overwhelmed with
pity for these poor babies and knew I was going to have trouble
picking out one kitten, let alone the perfect companion for my
daughter. As it turned out, the choice wasn't mine to make. As
soon as my daughter spotted this rumpled little creature, she pointed
and said simply "I want this one!!" No hesitation.
She even named her on the spot.
The choice has been an excellent one. Tigger sleeps snuggled
next to my daughter each night and follows her faithfully
around the house all day. This very tolerant kitten is now six
months old and has been subjected to our dogs, riding around in
a plastic shopping cart, and even the addition of two pet mice and
two parrots. She sits on the sofa watching each and looking at
the family as if she is trying to determine our sanity!
