Grandma
and Me: I help take care of Grandma in many ways. Grandma
needs lots of help because she has something called Alzheimer's. She
is not sick, she just forgets things, like her name, or where she is.
She stays in bed all the time because she forgot how to walk! She is
very healthy, and will probably outlive all of my family, even me,
and I have nine lives! Mommy says the most important thing I can do
is to allow Grandma to pet me. She says it is good for her in several
ways, because patting cats has been proven to lower blood pressure,
and it helps her exercise her hand and arm, and as long as I am with
her she is never lonely! Sometimes I get into a little trouble
though, because of my preferred method of getting into bed with
Grandma. You see, her hospital bed is set up in the family room, and
it is right up against the breakfast bar. I am not allowed on the
breakfast bar, because my humans eat there and don't like cat hair
all over their food! I could just jump up onto a chair that's right
by Grandma's bed, and from there up onto the bed. Actually, I could
just jump right onto the bed! However, it is much more fun to jump up
onto the breakfast bar and then jump on top of Grandma from there! I
love to pounce on her, she always acts so surprised, and it is nice
to get a reaction out of her. Grandma just had her birthday on April
2, and she is now 83, although if you ask her how old she is, she
will tell you she is 104. I just love Grandma, I can sleep on her lap
all day and she never pushes me off!! Here I am, allowing Grandma to
pet me.
