Lightning
was rescued from a hot car at a flea market three summers
ago. And she hasn't stopped running since. She was named for her
episodes of streaking through the house, like a bolt of lightning.
One of her favorite games is "jumping up the doorjamb." She looks it
over very intensely, checks her mark, and then jumps as high as she
can, ending in another streak through the house. Someday I fully
expect her to turn off the light switch! Her brother, Bear, is camera
shy, and one of Lightning's delights is tormenting him by chasing
him. Although she is strictly an indoor cat, she sits by the back
door every time someone goes out in the hopes that she will get to go
out on another "supervised adventure," where she will try to climb a
tree (without front claws) or chase a squirrel or bird. But most of
her day, when she is resting between runs, is spent in grooming her
long white hair. She is a beautiful cat and she knows it!
