Tasha
is an applehead Siamese, which means she is built a little
heavier, her head is a bit rounder and her ears are a bit smaller
than the Siamese cats you see in books and cat shows today. She has
bright blue eyes (so difficult to photograph), and a voice that can
range from sweet and expressive to painful and demanding, depending
upon her mood. She loves going for walks on her leash, being brushed
and being told that she is beautiful... and she does respond to her
name.
Tasha can be aloof and she always carries herself with the greatest
dignity, but I have had the rare opportunity to witness some of her
more humble moments. For example, when I'm sitting in front of the
computer in the winter, she will climb up my chest and wait until I
button up and tuck in my shirt around her. She can hang in there for
hours. It's kind of like a "cat-snugli." Another one of her
quirks is that she loves to be petted with "things,"
including credit cards and pens. Once we were stopped at a gas
station and Tasha was out of her cage, standing on the dashboard. The
windshield was being cleaned with a squeegee and she was standing
there arching her back against the glass. She must have seen the
squeegee through the window and thought she was being petted with it.
Tasha is the only girl-cat in our household. She shares, sometimes
reluctantly, her home with three boy-cats,
Phive,
Theo
and
Kalifornia.
She has her own web site.
