After
I graduated from college, I moved home and really wanted a cat.
I had always had cats and kittens growing up and missed having a cat
in the house. Because I had been lucky enough several times in my
life to have a kitten, I decided it would be nice to give a home to
an older, orphaned cat. Knowing I was looking for a cat that
desperately needed a home, I decided to go to the SPCA in Annapolis,
Maryland and try and find a friend. I committed to picking up each
cat that fit my criteria (older, preferably declawed) and see if we
had a match. I knew right away when I got to "Big Al"
(sixteen pounds then, twenty pounds now) that he was the cat for me.
He practically jumped into my arms, threw his paws around my neck and
held on for dear life. He also began purring so loudly and rubbing
his face on my chin - I was sure he was the one. And he was! He has
been a wonderful cat!
