This
is Luna Azul, affectionately called ZuZu. He is also called the
ZuMeister, ZuMan and Bumper Boy (he loves to bump your legs!!). ZuZu
was found sitting outside our back door one morning back in September
as I was leaving for work. (He must have seen that big flashing neon
sign above our house that says "sucker.") We thought he was a five- or
six-month-old kitten as he was so tiny. He was also filthy and his ears
were full of mites. Since we have two other cats (Blue - Feb 2nd Cat
of the Day, and Lucy - Apr 13th Cat of the Day, ) we were afraid to
just let ZuZu in the house (and there was no way I was going to leave
him outside) so we put him in the bathroom with food and a box and
some toys and headed to work. When I got home that evening I drove
around the neighborhood looking for signs posted with "lost cat." No
signs. I called my vet and took ZuZu in for a check-up to make sure
he was healthy. Dr. Folger surprised us by saying ZuZu was almost a
year old at least, malnourished but generally healthy. He cleaned up
his ear mites, gave him all his shots and I gave him a good bath. No
one ever claimed him so he is now a member of our household. And what
an addition!!! He is a beautiful cat, mostly Russian Blue, with huge
green eyes that are always open wide like he is surprised about
everything in life!! It took a while for Lucy and Blue to warm up to
him but they are all good friends now. ZuZu is the instigator of
mischief though and loves to try to engage Lucy & Blue in play all
the time. When he can't get them interested he is following me around
the house bumping into my legs and asking to be picked up and held.
He is truly a lover boy. He got his name, Luna Azul, as cats like him
come along maybe "once in a blue moon." He only weighed six pounds
when he adopted us but is now a hefty twelve pounds As the assistant at
the vet's office says "he likes the groceries at your house!!"
