My
cat, Bouncer, is fifteen. She's a not-so shorthair tortie from
Massachusetts. Bounce has been my fearless guard cat since she was
kitten. This picture, taken a few years ago, shows her keeping the
world safe from a dangerous flying leaf. More recently she has been
protecting me from my leather couches by roughing up those slippery
surfaces.
The small photo's a more unusual photo - sitting still while awake.
Now that she's fifteen she enjoys sleeping but keeps up her rituals -
hanging out in the bathroom every morning waiting for me to turn on
the sink faucet for her to drink from, getting under foot while I
prepare her meals, hopping up on my lap after I screech some
ear-piercing tune like that Whitney Houston song from The Bodyguard
("I will always love you"?). Her vet has found that she's
got a fast right hook, but I don't think I'd consider boxing as one
of her hobbies - hopping in boxes, maybe. And when she's not sleeping
or being a Tortie Terror she just likes to hang out where the people
are.
