Kafer
is a beautiful Chocolate Point Siamese. What makes her so
extremely special to me is that she was the most comforting human
being when I lost my 3rd child to S.I.D.S. over eight years
ago. When the baby first came home from the hospital after
being born) she would sit all the way at the other end of the
bassinet, as if to guard it. When she didn't hear the baby's cry, she
knew right away something was wrong. When she came up to me while I
laid on my bed (I spent a great deal of time in my room during that
moment in my life), she sniffed me and could smell that I was very
upset and knew why. It was so amazing how she knew something was
terribly wrong. I had only had her just under a year and she had
never come up to me. She was only two years old when I got her and
never ever purred. That's when Kafer started to jump up on to my bed
and give me kisses (licks) and purr as if to say it's going to be
okay, I'm here to comfort you.
Ever since the baby's death, she's been very close to me more than to
my fiancé. When my first marriage fell apart, once again Kafer
was there to make my days brighter. She's ten years old, but plays
like a frisky four-month-old cat. I don't think I could have made it
through all those bad years of my life without her. She gives me more
kisses than to my fiancé, but she does adore him. I'll never
forget her and she'll never forget me. We spoil her constantly. She
is the daughter we'll never have. I only wish when we marry in
December of this year, we could have her with us.
