Jackson
was a very special cat. Besides his hunting abilities when he was
younger, he really thought he was a dog. Unfortunately, when he was four he had
gotten into so many fights, that he developed an auto-immune problem and it was
dangerous for him to go outside anymore, so much to his dismay, he became a
totally indoor kitty. He adjusted pretty well to that. He was so lovable and
talkative (he had such a "small" voice for his size - at his largest he
weighed in at nineteen pounds!) In April of 1998 he was diagnosed with diabetes
(he was a very sick kitty -- in the hospital for over a month). When he came home
he handled his twice daily insulin shots just like the proud, brave boy he was (I
on the other hand had a very hard time doing it at first). He was doing just fine
for quite a while, although he couldn't tolerate his sister, Tickles (four
years), a red tabby, most of the time anymore. Well, at the ripe age of 11 and
1/2 years, he took a backslide and became very, very sick again, so to stop his
suffering, he was euthanized in November 1998. Jackson was a great cat and I miss
him terribly. Even though he wasn't very nice to his "sister" in the
last few months, she is missing him also. I have this same picture set as
wallpaper on my computer.
