My
cat's name is Pixel. He's a four-year-old domestic shorthair, and resides in
New Jersey. Pixel likes to climb things. He'll even climb doors; if he could, he
would climb ceilings. For fun he likes to play chess, watch TV, and play with
the computer. His chess game could use some improvement-- he can move the pieces
around, but he hasn't quite figured out which moves are legal yet. He's an
extremely affectionate cat, and will purr for almost anyone.
Aside from being, in my opinion, the cutest cat in the world, Pixel is also a
wonderful companion. We watch TV together at night, or I will read a book and he
will curl up against me. When he's feeling playful he fetch rubber bands. It's
his favorite game. I toss the rubber bands, and he leaps four feet in the air to
catch them with his paws. If he misses, he picks up the rubber band in his mouth,
and brings it to me, as if it were a mouse. I suspect a real mouse would be no
match for him. He also has very sharp ears, and one of his favorite sounds is the
clicking of the computer's keyboard, because that means there's a lap to jump in.
As soon as he hears that sound, he runs over and jumps in the lap of whoever is
at the computer, even if it is a total stranger. Pixel is four and half years
old, I got him when he was a kitten. A friend of mine had a stray cat that lived
under his back yard deck, and that cat had kittens. The kittens were all
completely wild but they managed to catch Pixel, and gave him to me. It took a
few weeks for him to calm down, but he did evolve from a totally feral wild
kitten, to the adorable plush purrball of love that he is today.
