Pico,
is about
three years old, a domestic shorthair, and lives in Halifax, NS, Canada.
Why is he special: Pico came in my life (well my colleague's) as a cat criminal.
My co-worker went away fro the weekend and came home to find her place in
shambles, and jumped to the conclusion she had been burgled. But the B & E was
really perpetrated by a little white cat. He had gotten into her apartment before
she left, and panicked when he realized he was trapped for the weekend, and made
quite a mess. She looked for the owner, checked with neighbors, and put an ad in
the paper but there were no takers. So I took him home and the rest is well,
history. (And happily, crime-free.)
Pico is the gentlest cat I've ever known, very sweet and affectionate. He loves
people food (even spinach!), the great outdoors (but he rarely gets out the
door), his fake mice (and real mice, but that's a whole other story) and polar
fleece. He hates the doorbell, any form of transportation that isn't his own four
legs (try driving in car with him for six hours!), not being let outside, and (do I
even have to add?) visits to the vet. He is tolerant (but I suspect that, all
things being equal, he'd really rather not, thank you very much) of dogs, being
held upside down, and my nephew. For twenty-four whole hours he was known as
Queequeg, and to this day I have a friend who refers to him only by that name.
He's a great cat, a great pal, and deserves his day in the spotlight!
