Sunny
was an eight-year-old boy, technically a domestic long hair, but
our vet believed him to be a Maine Coon, based upon his tail, tufted
ears & feet, high-pitched bark, and sweet temperament. Sunny died last
August of a very quick, very debilitating liver cancer. He brought joy
to our lives, however, in the short time he lived with us. I'd like to
share a little of the good:
One day at the emergency vet I found this photo over the drinking from
the fountain of a beautiful eighteen-pound, peach-colored, golden-eyed boy. His
parents were giving him up. I couldn't get him out of my mind. Days
later I mentioned him to my husband, who suggested I call. The rest was
history. We picked Sunny up that night, and he adopted us immediately.
Sunny loved to sleep on plastic bags, or upside down at my feet while I
worked on my computers. He "barked" for food and loved his tummy
scratched. He'd drink out of the bathtub faucet, coming back to sleep
with his head on my feet with drops on his soft, fluffy head. Most of
all, he was good company for Lucy - he'd ignore her disgruntled hisses
and howls, bowling her over and chasing her under and over the
furniture. We all miss our sweet boy greatly, and take great comfort in
the promise of the Rainbow Bridge.
