This
is Roxanne, who was nicknamed "Fatty" by my husband. She is
one tough cookie. I found Roxanne in 1987 on the side of the highway,
struggling to get up after being hit by a car. With the help of another
driver, I rushed her to the vet. Roxanne had fractured her elbow and wore a
full cast on her front leg for eight weeks. Because of the accident, she
can't bend her right front leg and has a peg-legged gait. This hasn't
slowed her down one bit! Roxanne is the "alpha cat" of my three
cats; she is very bossy and possessive. If another cat is sitting where
Roxanne wants to sit--whap!--she smacks the other kitty outta there!
She is so jealous of Tasha that she can hear me petting Tasha from three
rooms away and will into the room and butt her head between my hand and
Tasha. But she is very smart and has always been able to recognize my car,
even from the 3rd floor of my old apartment. She would cry to me from the
window as soon as my car pulled up. She always waits for me at the door and
performs a little "welcome dance" when I come home, flopping on
her side & doing a little "coffee grinder," spinning herself
in circles with her hind feet. She may act like a grumpy old lady, but
she's still just a big marshmallow inside.
