My
father is a minister, so we moved around a lot when I was younger.
The summer we moved to Indianapolis, the church's babysitter brought a
cat in one day. She said she found him in the streets, and could not
care for him herself, so she asked if we could. Fifteen years later, he
is still my trusted companion and most loyal friend. Now that I am
graduated from school and work full time, Tiger watches over everything
at home. He is waiting for me at the door at the end of the day, and
when I wake up in the morning he's lying right there beside me, making
sure to wake me up when he's hungry (which happens to coincide with the
time I need to wake up for work). Tiger now has a tumor growing between
his two shoulder blades, and the Doctor feels it's not worth doing
anything about since cats apparently don't respond well to surgery and
radiation treatment. After going through my mother's bout with cancer, I
wouldn't want to see Tiger go through that either. Only the Lord knows
when Tiger's last days are, but for now he's my pampered and spoiled
housemate.
