This
is my Ragdoll, Moppet's Just Takin' a Chance, better known as
Chance. We live with him in Calhoun, Georgia, along with another
Ragdoll, Teddy, and a shaded-silver persian, Kissyfurr (Cat of the
Day in July 1999), and a toy poodle, Coco. Chance is only 10 weeks
old in this picture. Chance is a very special kitten. When he was
born, the breeder didn't know if he was going to make it at all
because for a few weeks, he couldn't hold his head straight.
Sometimes, he couldn't hold it up at all, so she thought it may be a
birth defect, and she wouldn't sell him if she thought something was
wrong with him. So when Chance got a little bigger, the breeder asked
me if I would take him after the vet gave him a clean bill of health.
(The vet thinks maybe he had something weird going on in his inner
ear, making him tilt his head.) So I jumped at the chance (no pun
intended!) and brought Chance home. My vet also gave Chance a clean
bill of health, thinking he might have had some fluid on his ear at
birth, which could have left some scar tissue on the eardrum. He says
cats have a very sensitive equilibrium. As you can see, Chance loves
it here with us and his big "brother" Teddy. He plays
constantly, and sleeps with Coco and me every night. Chance is
getting as fat as a pig, and you can barely even tell he tilts his
head sometimes. I'm so glad we took a chance on him!
