PseudoBlue
is very special. He was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia over
ten years ago and the Veterinarian told us he might not live very long,
but PseudoBlue has thrived and is still strong and happy. My wife and I
have three house-cats, and we were warned by the vet to keep PseudoBlue
apart from them so they wouldn't catch the disease. We decided to let
PseudoBlue live on our front porch. He first arrived on our doorstep
looking for food about twelve years ago. We fed him and he came back
often for more handouts. Then he stayed all the time. Winter here in
Denver can be very cold so we made a covered house for him. On the
coldest nights I put a gallon jug of hot water into the house to keep
him warm. He's lived on our porch for eleven years, guarding our yard
and playing. He's very curious and always following us around the
garden. He always wants to know what we're doing and jumps up on our lap
as soon as we sit down. He's getting old now, I think he is about
thirteen years old. So, last winter we let him come into our own house
with the other three house-cats we have. At first he was nervous about
being in the house, but within a few days he didn't want to go out any
more. Now Pseudo-Blue just stays in the house and only goes out when the
weather is very warm. He still is very playful, he knows his name and
comes when you call him by Pseudo. He also is very intelligent... you
only have to tell him once about the rules of the house and he won't
make the mistake a second time. We really love him and respect him. The
other cats all like him too. When we made the decision to let him live
in the house with the other cats, we took him to the vet for another
test. When the test came back we were happy to know that the disease is
in remission.
