Charlie
has been with us since 1 July of this year. He's somebody's
throw-away. He's been neutered, front declawed, and has evidence of a
collar having been around his neck. When I took him to the vet, the
doctor estimated his age at three to five years, so we split the
difference and are calling him four, with a birthdate the same as the
day we got him. Here's how he came to us: Our neighbor has a trailer by
a nearby river and had seen him running loose for about a month or more.
At the end of June we had a bad set of storms come through our area, and
this cat came up to her and begged to be taken in. He was wet, skinny,
and kinda beat up; his nose is still healing. She and her husband kept
him in a cage in their shed for a week; they have a couple of dogs and
parakeets that they didn't want him to get into trouble with! When the
weather began to turn hot and sticky, she called me to see if I knew of
anyone who wanted a stray. Long story short, I said we'd take him
temporarily. When my husband got a look at him, he said, "What
shall we name him?" Could've knocked me over with a feather! He
didn't want any more pets! He's been a delightful, loving cat. Also, as
this picture shows, funny! He has the habit of sticking his tongue out
of his mouth, or perhaps he's just too lazy to pull it back in after he
finishes a bath! Bill caught him at just the right moment!
